CASE STUDY
S4i direct
This Cheshire company is run by a chemist and employs over 100 people. It has a fairly typical management structure, all reporting directly into the managing director.
The managing director felt burdened with the decisions he was needing to make with regard to the direction of the company, and particularly surrounding sales & marketing. He felt pressured and isolated.
“I have internal sales, engineers, an external sales team and a sales manager. I accept now, that I should have had a person pulling all this together and reporting to me at a very senior level. All my senior people are in production related roles, and we thought we were doing enough but this has proven to not be the case.”
Following six months of agreed activity, the managing director had this to say:-
“We are already a different company. I now have a better trained, targeted team, a monthly reporting structure, market feedback, succession planning, and a greater understanding of marketing. For the first time I feel in control of the function, I know what they should be doing and what they are doing! I make better decisions based on my improved knowledge and continuing support from selling4industry.”
One of the things the managing director found difficult in this case was opening up & handing over his database, order book and systems to scrutiny from “an outsider”. However, once he accepted that the information was of no benefit to selling4industry, and in actual fact he had more to worry about from his own team – he was convinced. He now has control of such vital information and even who has access.
As well as selling4industry sitting on the board at this company, we provide support at a Director level, delivering products and services as agreed. Longevity is important for all parties, this is key to the success.
